- about the author
It’s something she always done and something she intended to keep doing. Because right then, she didn’t care what people thought of her. She knew what she did was right, and it didn’t matter what she did. As long as she got to the end result. Her actions played on her mind. Relieved she didn’t have to lie to Bethan anymore. And what she did to Sam—that was also unforgivable. She hadn’t told her friends, but after they broke up, she begged him to move. Move away from Malia, and he did. He was safe.
For now.
The First Quarter was essentially the shopping district in Malia and was always packed with people. It caused moving around the area all that much harder because tourists would often stop in the middle of the path to stare blankly at a map. Elnora often resorted to pushing them out of the way or threatening them with enchantments. She was on a mission, and she needed to help her friends without any of them knowing.
It was noon by the time she left the hospital from her visit with Bethan. When she first woke up, Elnora knew she remembered every single thing that occurred the week before. And Bethan would never forget again.
Elnora fooled her parents a second time. She kept the small vial in her pocket and switched the potions again when it was time for Bethan to go to sleep. And Bethan was smart and knew how to play her cards right. And Elnora was so very proud of her friend.
She suspected Circe knew too, the way she disappeared the morning because she was ‘busy with work.’
At least Bethan wouldn’t be alone in her endeavours, but she needed to make it easier for her, she needed to expose what was happening to the missing vampires and humans, she needed to free Kellan Finch.
Elnora found the meeting place easily, a small café on the corner of a small side street. No cars were allowed on the road, which made it easier for Elnora to cross. A few sets of tables and chairs were set outside the café. The cobblestone ground turned to a fake manicured grass, to give the illusion that this was a place for a picnic and not a morning pick-me-up.
Elnora spotted him immediately.
She had never met him before; he was friends with Dana, but she rarely allowed her friends to meet Bethan. Some strange protective older sister things, that Elnora didn’t really care enough to ask why.
The young man stood out amongst the other customers at the café, wearing aviator sunglasses and a plain black T-shirt. Elnora guessed he dressed plainly to avoid attention.
He raised a hand to wave her over. She slid into the chair opposite him. The man sipped some of his coffee before setting the white mug back down on the iron table.
