‘Oh my sweet nincompoop child, always remember that we are not the body. No matter how insignificant our lives or our own self-worth may seem to be, the fact is that, within us there is life, and life emanates from The Creator, and thus within us resides The One, and thus, each one of us is truly significant. We are the energy that resides within the body. We are the spark from that Great Flame, a drop from that Great Ocean, a tune from that Great Orchestra, a sigh from the Great Breath. We are not what we seem to be. Just like we are aware that the Sun does not rise or set, but still we go about believing it does. We know that darkness doesn’t come about because the Sun has set but only because a part of the earth has shown its back to the sun, hence the ensuing darkness. We all know this but we all seem to forget this each day. So much so that in a regular conversation one says that the sun is setting and the sun is rising, in spite of knowing the reality that the sun doesn’t rise or set. Beta, within us resides the Spark of divinity, Shakti that keeps the body and soul together. Without this Shakti, the body would drop dead. We are a part of that Energy, in the form of consciousness, individual consciousness; some would call it consciousness, some would call it the mind, some would call it individuality, some would call it the soul, some the atma, but the fact is that our body is not us and we are not the body, we are this Energy, consciousness, individuality, soul, atma, in the body. When our bodies die, we do not cease to exist. When our bodies change or there is some amputation, we do not cease to exist, we are who we are, not because of the body, but because of our individual consciousness.’
