“Fine. Remember how you said that the way to help Hari is to ask him what he wants? What he likes to do? And remember how Shobi Kaki told us we needed to find a way to fund projects publicly and not through corporate philanthropic organizations? Well, I asked Hari, and he said the happiest he’d ever been was when he was working for Yash and digging into data to identify people on social media who might have an interest in Yash’s policies.” Vansh opened their social media ad reach page, and his body vibrated with excitement under her.

“Hari’s been coming up with an algorithm to target people who might want to fund our project in Nepal. It’s been three days and you’re not going to believe the numbers we’re at.”

Naina’s mouth fell open. Vansh navigated to their fundraising page and her shoulders started to shake. “Vansh . . .” How had he even done this? “I can’t believe you did this.”

“Well, Hari did this.”

She turned in his arms and squeezed him in a hug, and he squeezed her back so tight it was a wonder she could still breathe.

“I don’t know what to say,” she said finally, feeling his heart pounding to match hers.

“You could tell me I’m the most brilliant man you’ve ever met and you can’t live without me.”

She laughed. Fingers threaded through his hair, she pulled away, something fierce burning inside. “Listening to me has turned you into the most brilliant man.”

He waited. It had not escaped him that she hadn’t touched the other half of what he’d said.

“Seriously, though, Vansh, this is truly brilliant. I can’t believe we didn’t think of this before! Have you told Shobi Auntie yet? She’s going to be so excited. Do Sadiya and Makayla know?”

Turned out, they’d all been planning the surprise. So she could finally tell Jiggy to go to hell as ceremoniously as she’d been dreaming of.

And she did.

“You know you can’t do this without me,” Jiggy said on the phone, after.

“We’ll figure it out. We rich kids do take our need to run around and save the world seriously.”

There were monstrous amounts of paperwork to be done to transfer everything to their own foundation. Jiggy threatened to make things as difficult for them legally as he could. But Naina offered him the option of backing away without negative publicity. With so much of Big Tech on board with the app, attacking them legally on that front would be unimaginably stupid on Jiggy’s part.

“Jiggyshasha is truly fucked,” Vansh said when they hung up.
