- About the Author
In the bathroom, she filled the tub with hot water and took her razor from her toiletry kit. She planned to use the items provided by Mr. G. She took a bath bomb and a bottle of body lotion from the artfully arranged grouping beside the sink. When the tub was full, she dropped the bath bomb in, stripped off, and lowered herself into the warm water. Sighing, she couldn’t remember when she’d felt so relaxed. She couldn’t allow herself to get sleepy or she’d miss the dinner with John and his father. She soaked for ten minutes, gave herself a good scrub, shaved her legs, then stepped out of the tub. She slipped her nightshirt on while she did her hair and makeup. Olivia had given her a great blow-dry, and she wasn’t going to mess with that. She had enough hair for three people, and it was a lot of work to take care of. She added a dark shade of brown shadow to her eyes, and with her hand now steady, she applied a winged liner, adding just a touch beneath her eyes, too. A smoky look. She contoured, highlighted, and added a powder blush, then outlined her lips with a soft brown lip liner, filling them in with her favorite lip gloss. She examined herself in the mirror. She didn’t want to appear to be trying too hard, and she wasn’t. This was her style when she went out for a night on the town, which was rare, but anyone who knew her wouldn’t find it odd that she’d spiffed up. And who in their right mind wouldn’t want to make herself glamorous for a night with John, Mr. Hunk?
She was glad she had thought to pack a dressy casual outfit, though. Obviously, when she’d added it to her luggage. she hadn’t entertained the idea she’d be having dinner with Mr. G and a man she’d fallen madly in love with. She smiled, saw she had a bit of lip gloss on her teeth, and wiped it off with a tissue. She wore black Paige jeans with a cashmere sweater, and it just so happened to be red. She added a pair of black-leather booties to wear with these jeans. She’d only packed her long dress coat, so she brought this with her, then went back to the closet, remembering she had added her red Chloé purse. In the living room, she took a few necessities from her bag and added them to her smaller purse, along with a tube of lipstick.
While she waited for John, she tried calling her mother again. She answered on the third ring.
“Hey, Mom.”
