- About the Author
“If you want some cosmetics, we have a full drawer of them,” Olivia said, opening and closing drawers before she found what she wanted. “Mascara, blush, and a few tubes of lipstick. I can’t imagine you would need any more than that.”
“This is fine, thanks.” She really could use a complete do-over, given the day so far, but she felt a lot better after showering and drinking a glass of ginger ale. She opened the new tube of mascara, loaded her pale lashes, then added the color back to her skin with the blush. “Would there be a toothbrush around here?” she asked before putting on lipstick. She’d rinsed her mouth in the shower, but she needed to brush her teeth, badly.
“Here you go,” Sandra Marie said. “I was waiting for you to ask.”
“You two are awesome. I can’t believe you have all of these things here.”
“It’s Globalgoods.com. We have to have everything one would need in any given situation. Our motto in and out of the office.”
Lauren used the sink at the end of the counter to brush her teeth, and finally, she once again felt like a human being. She added the lipstick and looked at her image in the mirror. “Not too bad, given that ride I was on.”
Olivia spoke. “Mr. G needs to forbid that man from driving. He’s a danger to the passengers and the people on the road.” She had a slight accent, though Lauren couldn’t identify what it was.
“I’m going to have Lucas have a talk with him,” Sandra Marie said. “He still thinks he’s driving stock cars.”
“Lauren, Olivia is engaged to Lucas; she’s the one who makes us all presentable if we’re on television or a video conference.”
Lauren smiled. “Well, you did a fantastic job with this.” She patted her smooth, clean hair. “It’s so exciting to know things like this are real; does that make sense?”
She felt out of her depth, but in reality, with a business the size of this one, she should have known they would have a staff to cater to every need imaginable.
“It does,” Olivia said. “I was like you when I started working here six years ago. Mr. G, he’s the best boss, but you wait and form your own opinion.”
Lauren nodded. “I’m ready to meet him if he still wants to go through with this interview.”
“He is, and said to send you up as soon as you felt comfortable.”
“Then let’s get this show on the road,” Lauren said, amazed that she actually felt human again.

Chapter 22
Lauren was nervous as she took the elevator to the tenth floor. She had her bag, her computer, her notes. She knew how to conduct an interview. She’d done this before. She wrote best-selling books.
She was madly in love.
