Archaeologist David Start was a great help on the intricacies of dating Anglo-Saxon iron weapons, Home Office forensic pathologist Dr Stuart Hamilton was as always of great assistance, particularly on the body’s transition to adipocere. I would also like to thank Hester Russell, Kim Booth and John Campbell. The latter gave me some pointers on corporate fraud. The runes and (made up) Anglo-Saxon prophecy were translated with the help of a neat little text converter at Valhyr.com. Any mistakes are my own.
I am grateful to Michael Bhaskar and the rest of the team at Canelo, and copyeditor Miranda Ward. Last but not least, my wife Louise, for her boundless patience and support during the gestation of each and every book.
