The old Becky would’ve had a smug face now that her brother would soon be ‘knocked up’. Although, I remembered the video transmission she sent. It was only intuition, but I felt it was a peace offering of sorts. I could use the confession to make things hard for her. The night she offered drinks of Jack Daniel’s whiskey was a night I couldn’t remember.
A few sleeping pills and several glasses are enough to knock anybody into a slumber. After that, all you have to do is grab somebody’s hand, and change the answers on a test.
If she didn’t do that, I would have failed the test and still been Tennessee Peter. It was the same pills Nate later used. I know she had nothing intentional to do with the attack but… she’s the one that set me on this path. Part of me was angry and another part grateful. I would have ended up with no direction in my life if it wasn’t for her.
I thought while the ocean darkened around us. One day, I’ll see about us being kin – maybe for the first time.
My voice was a whisper. “But now, I’m a Royal Omega.” I stared up with love into the purple eyes of my life mate. “Let’s get to work.”
There was so much in that statement. Our kingdom, our upcoming family, or repairing my relationship with my family.
Why not all three? It’s a new world and anything’s possible.

Our ship stopped outside of a clear domed city. With a slight jerk, we connected. Matros turned to me. “Normally I wouldn’t allow...,” his lips pressed together, “invite you to this meeting.” He frowned. “They are... a difficult people. Instead of practicality, they have a fanatical devotion to procedure and contracts. Every meeting requires the ‘Meeting of Families as they would say’.
“What about when you didn’t have...” My voice trailed off, but he got it.
“When it was just me, they were... less inclined to allow visitors.”
“But they still did.”
“Yes, and made it difficult. They have no idea how easy they have it. Other planets would make them feel the boot.”
The question was partly rhetorical. “And you won’t.”
“No.” His voice was hollow. “There has been too much death already. However, I am at the end of my patience. I have a family to start and I don’t have time for an immature people.”
