Part of me agreed with his frustration. I wasn’t the biggest fan of the Volardi. Yet, a murdered Human wasn’t good publicity for whatever plans they had for Earth. Maybe one day, ‘Military Henry’ would be right. Humans would have a place among the Volardi. Right now, there was a separation.
And questions about that collar. I think I understood but there were other things to think about.
I stared at my almost-husband who was nearly human and yet very much alien. It went beyond their strong bodies, and technology. Even their sense of honor was strange even if some Earth cultures had similar set-ups. Us country folk had something close with giving our word or being blunt. The honor that made their third sex rare and precious, saved Earth from harvest. It also kept him from now attacking.
Nate ground his dick against my thigh as he watched Matros sneer in the dark. I frowned at the perversion. This wasn’t sex. This was domination and the use of everything pure and loving as a weapon. A way for a smug asshole to show up two men.
I wasn’t sure if Nate would do something in front of Matros, but something told me he might. It wouldn’t be wise but male pride and dominance went a long way towards doing horrific – and stupid –things.
It’s not like the reason matters, if he’s in me.
Matros spoke. “I don’t care. Prepare yourself. I will kill him and…” His voice turned hallow, “deal with the damage afterward. This flek will not harm you. My life for yours.”
For the second time in a night, I got another idea. Becky was right about a few things. I needed to think about others. Matros would kill Nate. I wasn’t opposed to a dead attacker, but this could cause worlds of trouble. I wasn’t totally sure what would happen to Matros, but something told me it would be terrible with a capital ‘T’.
I had no way to know for sure, but those were the eyes of someone facing death.
Nate’s weight faded into the background and I looked up into the purple eyes of hate. They belonged to a man that would always love me. Questions about if I were gay, human, and if I wanted a child slipped out of my mind. I had to save him.
I wasn’t ‘Old Peter’ anymore. Sometime – I couldn’t say when – he died. I was Omega now. There was no proof, but I knew I’d be an Omega forever.
I spoke twice. Once in Volardi and once for Nate’s ‘benefit’. “Matros, I choose you for my bond mate.”
With that, I became Volardi.

PETER
“Computer,” said Matros quickly. “Recognize two Volardi here. Myself and Peter Lynn.”
“Recognized.”
