“Nobody invited you Nate.”
He stepped toward me. “That’s right. Nobody had to. You know why? Because I’m a man. I go where I want. That’s the benefit when you’re an Alpha and real Alpha. Not one of those things up there. Beta men… I mean women… nah, Omegas like you wouldn’t understand.” He jerked his hand to the metal rod in my hand. “So, let’s see it.”
“No.”
He jerked it out of my tight grasp with no effort and spoke in a whiny, mocking voice, “No…”
His thick thumb pressed each side and then both, but nothing happened.
My lips curled into a soft smile. “It only opens for me.”
It was an assumption but a decent one.
“That so twig? Good to know.” He grabbed my hands. I tugged back but all I could do was lightly shake him. My thumbs went over the ends despite my best effort. The rod ‘split in half and moved apart while a semi-transparent screen grew in the middle. It flew from both of us until it was floating in the center of our living room.
Thin beams of light came out and formed a holographic image of a young, and thin, blue-eyed, blond. Oh, wait… it’s that first guy… uh, Omega. He was short and slender like me and he didn’t have the full belly like he had in most of the later photos.
The hologram spoke with an American accent. “Greetings Peter. I am James and I’m sure you know of me. Technically, I’m a digital recreation created to answer questions about our Omega Repopulation program. You have taken the first step to strengthening the bonds between our people on Earth and the Volardi. A connection that helps both races.”
“Due to Gloom treachery, the Volardi lost ninety-five percent of their Omegas or as they call them, Femenis. To protect their race, they turned to the stars and found Humanity – a lost colony from eons past. Evolution and genetic engineering increased the differences. With modification, they can breed with earth males.” He shrugged, “Perhaps even the females.”
But you won’t.
“Earth’s women belong to Earth. The Volardi cannot steal another’s child bearer. They belong to their planet.”
That much was true. There were whispers they secreted women away, but that was Humanity First propaganda. Some girls offered but the Volardi refused. Whether that was honor or gayness I couldn’t say.
“There were some who suggested cloning programs. Even what we Humans call heterosexual relationships, but neither is viable. Clones don’t last long and the Volardi want more than uteruses. They want family units. Fortunately, studies showed there were Earth men who could undergo the Omega process.”
Yeah. Like you.
He gestured, and I saw a time lapse video of him from a few years ago. Images of him and his lanky frame changed as his stomach bulged out. Even his face was fuller. Around the hologram went until it ended with his hands around his immense stomach.
“My second child of seven,” he said. “There are more you can view later including the delivery.”
