“All you have to do is let me lead.” He takes my hand before I can agree, guiding me to the dance floor. Jax isn’t bad on the eyes. He towers over me, but everyone does. Asher especially. I barely come up to the middle of his chest.

Don’t think about him, I scold myself. It’s taken everything in me not to search him out in the crowd. I did notice out of the corner of my eye that he was lingering close by. I might have also noticed a lot of the women steadily trying to get his attention.

A few even asked Emily about her brother and if he was planning to settle down. Then a weird whisper started to circle the room. One that Asher was in a relationship with a woman back in Japan. That almost killed me.

Emily gave me a look and shook her head no, but I myself heard Asher say he was leaving tonight. Was it to get back to her? Anger starts to bubble up inside of me the more I think about it.

“You with me?” Jax asks as he pulls me into his body, his hand going to my hip.

“Sorry, this is all a bit overwhelming.”

“You’ll get used to it. You’re a Score now.” He gives me a smirk that I think is supposed to be charming. I’m not a Score. My mom is one.

“I guess I don’t love crowds.”

“We can step outside if you like,” he offers.

“You can step the fuck back, that’s what you can do.” Jax freezes. And I look up to see Asher looming over us. He looks pissed. “Let. Her. Go,” he orders. I know this is an inopportune time for me to get turned on, but I can’t help it. I love that I get him all worked up.

“Careful, Jax. Asher doesn’t like to repeat himself.” I roll my eyes, then step back on my own. “Thank you for the dance.” I turn away. I don’t even have to look to know Asher’s following me. I can sense it. I exit out of the tent and make my way up the stone stairs toward the house. My heel catches on one of the cracks. I let out a small scream, bracing myself for the fall, but two arms catch me before I can hit the ground. I stare up into Asher’s dark gaze.

“You’re in so much trouble.” He swoops me into his arms.

“Asher!” I hiss. A few people linger outside and can see us if they’re paying attention. “I don’t have panties on,” I whisper. I’m going to end up flashing everyone. He pulls me in tighter to his chest so that I’m cradled in his arms.
