"Do you need me to get a room ready?" Evie asked from the living room. Mia had shown Evie how to help set up the rooms for new guests as far as making sure the linens were clean and on the bed and that they had fresh towels and washcloths.

"That would be great," Mia said. "Put them in room four. It's got a beautiful view of the lake."

"Do we know who these people are?" Kate asked as Evie went up the stairs.

"From what I understand it's a husband and wife on their anniversary."

"Must be nice," Kate said, rolling her eyes.

"Well, maybe Mr. Contractor will take you on a wonderful honeymoon one day," Mia said, laughing.

"Stop it! I mean, he's hot. There's no denying it. He's muscular, tan and he has the most beautiful eyes that look like milk chocolate. Gosh, I sure love chocolate."

Mia started laughing. "Well hopefully Mr. Chocolate Eyes will be here on time. Contractors rarely are."

"Oh, I think he'll be here on time. He's a little smitten with me, so I'm sure he wants to make a good impression."

"Well, look who's a little full of herself this morning," Mia said with a smile.

"No, but I have to admit it does feel good to have somebody pursuing me. It's been a long time. And he's a really nice guy, a little cocky but has a great sense of humor. We started off on the wrong foot when we met, but his work and craftsmanship is unparalleled to anything I've ever seen. We would be lucky to get him to do this work for us."

"Well, let's not tell him that," Mia said, putting two pancakes on a plate and sliding them over to her sister. "If there's one thing Momma taught me, it's to never name the number first. Have him give us a number and then we can counter."

"And what if his number is reasonable?"

Mia paused for a moment. "Well, I don't know, but I've never seen it happen."

Kate laughed. She ate her food as quickly as possible. "I better run upstairs and touch up my make up. Wouldn't want to scare the contractor," she said, grinning from ear to ear.

As she ran upstairs, Mia couldn't help but laugh to herself. She hadn't known her sister for very long, of course, but she certainly hadn't seen this side of her. It made her happy to see that Kate had found someone she was interested in. Maybe they would start dating and she'd have yet another reason to stay. The closer they became, the more she couldn't imagine her sister going all the way to the northern end of the country. Sure, they could visit, but it would never be the same as having her live right there at the B&B.
