It’s been a two-year span of time from first writing to publication date and, along the way, a pandemic happened. It could have been a blue time, deprived as I was of hugs and travel and the chance to gather people at my table, but I am blessed with a constellation of friends so stellar that even Luis would be envious. Thanks to Ashley, Stacey, Jen, Amy, LeeAnna, and Kristin, who kept my heart singing. And, speaking of my heart, I am so grateful for Sari: Yay!
Above all, I am thankful that I have had the fantastical journey of raising my daughter. Being a single parent (like Ma Elena and my own mom) can be a lot of work and worry, but it’s made easier when your kid is a gem. Lily has been a pretty swell companion during the pandemic, and the rest of the time, too. I’m thrilled to have written a book she’ll dig at least half as much as she likes Stranger Things.
