With his plan falling to pieces in front of him, it seemed Jason was no longer adverse to using the gun. And he had it aimed at Caprice – Damon’s sister. Feuding or not, the man would never forgive Micah if he allowed her to get hurt.
“There’s no logical way out of this, Jason,” Micah said, hoping to appeal to his common sense. He carefully shuffled closer to the pair. “Just let her go – let us go – and skip town while you still can.”
Caprice sneered from where Jason had her by the hair, apparently not cowed at all despite having a loaded weapon pressed against her head. “Even if he flees the country, Damon will never let him go. He won’t stop until he’s hunted down, and he’ll make him beg for death before granting it.”
Micah shot the woman an incredulous look. “Yeah, not helpful, Caprice,” he hissed.
“Don’t worry your pretty head about it, Micah,” she said in response, sounding entirely too calm considering. And it was only because he was looking at her that he noticed her sink her hand into the inside of the blouse she was wearing. “He’s not going anywhere.”
Before either Micah or Jason could ask what the fuck that meant, she was yanking a tiny bottle of some sort of aerosol can out from between her breasts and spraying Jason full in the face with it.
Jason screamed, hands automatically releasing Caprice and going to his eyes.
Pepper spray, Micah realized dazedly.
Figuring that was his cue, he half-leapt/half-fell into the man, and took him down to the floor – again. This time, though, Micah had the advantage. Jason couldn’t even open his eyes to fight back, and before the man could react, Micah grabbed him by the wrist of the hand that held the gun and thwacked it repeatedly against the floor until Jason was forced to release the weapon.
The revolver skidded across the floor. “Caprice, get the gun!”
She didn’t need to be told twice. Moving faster and more gracefully than any woman had the right to in heels like the ones she was wearing, Caprice snatched the gun up off the floor.
“Quit your blabbering before I spackle the kitchen with your viscera,” she snapped at the wailing Jason.
“Do you have anything to hold him with?” Micah asked as he flipped Jason onto his stomach and wrestled his hands behind his back. “Some more of these handy-dandy zip ties, maybe?”
Caprice pressed her lips together. “Hold on,” she said, digging through a drawer in the kitchen before tossing Micah a massive roll of… duct tape?
Micah blinked. “That works.”
He made quick work of restraining Jason’s hands, and then figuring it was better to be safe than sorry, returned the favor of binding his ankles together.
