Still, he couldn’t quite bite his tongue. “Why do you need to tie me up if you’re just going to shoot me?”
“Jesus, do you ever shut up?” Jason snapped. Maybe Micah should have been scared at the man’s obvious displeasure, but mostly, he was just glad to have finally prompted a reaction from him. “You’re nearly as fucking annoying as Caprice.”
“Is that why you’re doing this?” Micah pressed, sensing an opening. “Caprice? Does she really hate me so much?”
“Caprice has nothing to do with this,” Jason denied. “Well, not nothing,” he acquiesced. “She may not know what I’m doing, but it is almost entirely her fault. I, for one, actually like you, Micah.”
Micah was pretty sure it was frowned upon to hold people you liked at gun point, but he swallowed down that observation. “Then let me go,” he said simply instead. He still wasn’t sure why Jason seemed set on killing him in the first place. “We’ll talk through whatever’s bothering you… and Caprice,” he tacked on.
Jason smiled. “That’s sweet. I can see why Damon likes you. And like I said, I was willing to let you be. I thought you were a good match for Damon even, especially since you came equipped with a dick instead of a pussy.” Jason’s features transformed into a scowl. “But then my bitch wife couldn’t keep her damn mouth shut. She’s nearly ruined everything with her irrational hatred of you. Did you know Damon has already halved her monthly allowance? He’s threatened to strike her from his will, even demote me – thinks I’m some pussy-whipped bitch.”
As relieved as Micah was that the man was talking, the more he spoke, the more confused Micah grew. “I-I’m sorry Damon did that,” he eventually managed to stutter. “He shouldn’t have. Family’s important, and you’re obviously very good at what you do. But I can talk to him,” he quickly added. “I’ll convince him to restore her allowance and whatever else.” Micah debated for a second whether he ought to keep going and address what else Jason had said – that shit about being relieved Micah was a guy and not a girl – but in the end, curiosity won out. “Why were you so happy I have a dick, and not, you know…?”
Jason snorted. “Why do you think? Two men can’t exactly have children, can they?”
Well, not in the traditional way, but there were obviously other options, like surrogacy or adoption. Not that Micah was about to point that out. “Why would you care whether or not Damon has babies?”
