Chapters (35)
Jackie Woodson, Laurie Halse Anderson, Leah Henderson, Olugbemisola Rhuday-Perkovich, Ellen Oh, Renée Watson, An Na, Namrata Tripathi, Daniel Nayeri, Meg Medina, Grace Lin, Tammy Brown, Jim Averbeck, Ed Porter, Pat Cummings, Melissa Stewart, Cynthia Leitich Smith, Dr. Sarah Park Dahlen, and many others are among the friends and colleagues who have taken the time to talk to me about race, diversity, and inclusion. I ask their patience and forgiveness, as I still have so much to learn: My goal is to make new and different and better mistakes every day.
Finally, I thank my readers—of all ages, but especially the young readers. It is an honor and a privilege to be able to write for you.
