I despise not having my own money. I mean, I have my American Express card, but my parents take turns paying it off every month.

Maybe I should look for a job? Although, who’s gonna hire me without a car? And I’m only here for another month. I’d have to have Maria chauffeur me around.

“God.” I groan, flopping back on the bed, instantly seeing his face. Bolting up, I push on Cher’s number. I’ve been pretending I lost my phone charger. That’s why I’ve ignored her calls and texts.

Taking a breath, I wait, listening to the funky overseas ringtone, my mind wandering.

Is he fucking my mom?

“Of course he is, stupid,” I grumble. I hate him.

“Of course who is? And it’s about fucking time. Ciao, bella,” Cher’s voice blasts into my ear. Without a doubt, she has the worst Italian accent, but she doesn’t care.

I wish I was Cher.

“Sorry, I told you I had to get a new charger. Maria’s car broke down.” I bite my lip, wondering if I should wait to tell her everything in person. It’s not like she can really help; she’s in fucking Italy.

“What’s happening? Jesus, I really am psychic. I knew something was wrong,” she huffs, and I almost start laughing. It’s either that or cry. Cher loves to think she is gifted in the supernatural.

A couple of years ago, she became a witch. Apparently if you’re a real witch you don’t tell anyone. Cher found that information out after she’d informed our whole senior class. Thank God her dad is famous. No one even cared.

Now, if I had announced that I was a witch, they’d have probably tried to throw me in a bonfire after a football game.

“You finally got Brody to fuck you and it was terrible?” She sounds concerned. “Listen, it sucks the first time and, well, a lot of times after that. Tell him to watch lots of porn. And don’t worry. It’s just because a lot of men have a hard time knowing where the clitoris is—”

“I didn’t sleep with Brody,” I say, cutting her off. I can’t handle a sex education class from her, especially since my first time was fucking amazing.

Jett definitely knows where the clit is, along with every other spot that makes my eyes roll back in my head.

“How?” she wails.

“Cher! I swear to God, my ear is ringing,” I shout. I love her but she’s making me rethink confessing.

“I’m just so disappointed for you. Please don’t get down. I’ll be home soon, and I swear, I will get you—”

“I slept with Jett.”

Dead silence.

“Cher?”

“Daddy Powers?” Her voice is a whisper until the end, when she screams.
