The smaller yacht promotion would be an invitation-only package for a select two hundred wealthy individuals who could actually afford to buy or rent a boat. The added marketing value of both the celebrity-hosted cruise party and the exclusive yacht cruise would be prerecorded videos of several different yachts and cruise ships that Seth Gardner represented. The videos would be displayed on several television screens on constant replay around the boats.
The total price tag was another six figures.
Ivan let Lucina know that he would also ask Seth Gardner about private rentals of yachts from his list of clients.
“We could book regular yacht parties from people who own boats, where they could make good money off these things instead of them just sitting around at the docks all day.”
“Ivan, those are private people using their boats for private purposes,” Lucina argued. “They don’t want everyone on their boats.”
“You don’t know unless you ask them,” Ivan countered. “A few of them could have a couple of bills that they need to pay, and a private cruise broker like us could help them to pay them. All I have to do is advertise it on the website, work out the prices and availabilities, make sure the owner has people available to navigate the boat, and we go from there.”
Lucina considered Ivan’s vainglorious idea and grinned. She had gotten used to troubleshooting with him just to see how he would figure his way out of obstacles. And Ivan never seemed to lack answers.
He is truly amazing, she told herself. I had no idea he could go this far with things. And we have yet to start promoting concerts. But we are surely on our way now.
WHEN THEY MET at Seth Gardner’s office overlooking San Diego Bay, he read through their proposal and agreed to everything. The promotional videos were what sealed the deal for him. He told them, “I’ve been meaning to produce promotional videos myself. But I could never find the beautiful young ladies that you have to do them with.”
Ivan said, “Man, I thought boats attracted the prettiest women in the world.”
“Oh, they do,” Seth responded. “But usually they are women of leisure and not women who know how to pitch.”
Ivan looked over at his partner and said, “Oh, well, you can’t work for Lucina without knowing how to pitch. There are no women of leisure with us. They all know how to work it, or they don’t work,” he stated.
Seth laughed and told them, “Well, just let me know when you’d like to begin filming. As for you having access to boats for your own business purposes, I’m sure we’ll be able to work on figuring something out as long as it would be profitable for my clients.”
“That’s all I needed to hear,” Ivan told him with a grin.
