“Thank you, sir.” I follow Sasha and Heath out the front door behind the princess.

Rose’s Pegasus carriage is out front. She ushers us inside, then closes the purple curtains to hide us from view.

“Not a word!” she whispers through the veil. “I’m going to speak with our driver to get us out of the village as quickly as possible.”

I look at Heath. “What about Logan and Tara? We need to find them.”

“They could have been captured,” Sasha says worriedly. “Once we get out of here, we can reach Prue and find them. But if we’re all captured, we won’t do anyone any good.”

“But…” I jump when I hear Kira in my ear.

“I can’t get word to Prue,” she says. “Communication is still down. I’ll keep trying.”

“We’ve gotten permission to take off right away.” Rose sneaks back into the carriage and squeezes Sasha’s hand. “We’ll get you out of here. Don’t you worry.”

Seconds later, the carriage takes off at warp speed.

“We need to get somewhere safe,” Sasha tells her. “Could you bring us to Mother and Father first? They’ll listen to my side of the story. The fairy godmother doesn’t have our best interests at heart. She controls everything in this kingdom and manipulates the students into being mini versions of…well, you!”

Rose’s smile fades. “What is wrong with that? As a princess, it is my duty to serve my people and be someone they look up to. I do not veer from Olivina’s chosen path. As a fairy godmother, she knows what’s best for each of us, including you. If you’d just see reason.”

Sasha pulls away. “See reason?”

“Yes!” Rose tries to take her hand again. “I could speak with Olivina and get her to readmit you if you’d just fall into line like the other students. Stop trying so hard to be different! It makes you look difficult. Why can’t you just be more like me?”

Heath gives me a look. Who knew Rose was such an Olivina fangirl? Sasha is her sister! She should believe her.

“Devin!” Kira screams in my ear, and I jump.

“Shh!” I don’t want Rose to know she’s here.

“More like you?” Sasha turns stone-faced. “You mean like when you joined forces with Gottie and tried to take over Fairy Tale Reform School? Was that your idea or Olivina’s?”

“That’s enough from you, missy!” Rose’s face reddens. “There you go again, acting as if you’re so high and mighty. You always had such lofty ideals. I see now why Olivina wanted to shut down that silly blog of yours.”

“Devin!” Kira says again, and I feel the carriage begin to lift into the air.

“My blog is not silly! If you read it, you’d know!” Sasha fires back. “It tells the truth, unlike Olivina.”

Rose’s eyes flash. “Olivina never lies. She knew you were bad seeds. She was right to banish you!” Sasha looks like she’s been slapped.

“Devin!” Kira’s voice is so loud Heath hears it. “This carriage is headed for Royal Academy!”
