I know this information is hard to process. Many of us (myself included!) are still recovering from last night’s attack on our anniversary ball. Thankfully, we have swiftly dealt with the security breach, and our school gates will be closed to nonroyals until further notice. The safety of you—my future leaders—is our top priority!

As for the first-years who were suspended, I know many of you will have questions, which is why I wanted to reach out before any vicious rumors started.

Students are only suspended from Royal Academy in the rarest of circumstances and only after committing three offenses at school. In the history of this distinguished academy, suspensions have only occurred a handful of times and only as a last resort. Unfortunately, try as I might, I could not get through to these wayward royals. It was decided their radical ideals were too dangerous to allow them to stay among our ranks.

Raina White

I know the pedigree of some of these individuals is alarming—several of these students are siblings of members of the royal court—but the court backs this decision. It is heartbreaking to hear of royals who do not heed the call of duty, but ivy left untamed can overtake an entire castle. These students were attempting to change the way the world views royals and how we rule. In these uncertain times, why mess with a system that works beautifully? These students threatened this kingdom’s very future with their lies.

Considering their offenses, there is to be no contact with the suspended individuals. If they attempt to contact you, your roommates, friends, or staff, or are seen anywhere near school grounds, call for me immediately. Failure to do so will result in your dismissal.

But don’t despair! Follow the Royal Academy rules, remember your manners, and all your fairy-tale dreams are still sure to come true.

Chapter 1

This Is No Time to Panic

I used to daydream about spending my life wandering through the woods, helping animals in need, completely free of the responsibilities that come with being twelfth in line to the throne of Enchantasia. So you’d think being banished to a forest would be a dream come true. Expansive woodlands? Check. A plethora of wild creatures at my fingertips, just ready and waiting to be taken care of? Check. Stripped of my royal status? Check.

But if I’ve learned anything from my recent run-ins with a certain fairy godmother, it’s “Be careful what you wish for.”

Because as much as this situation seems like a dream come true, it’s actually a nightmare. You see, a few hours ago, I kind of got me and my friends kicked out of Royal Academy and banished forever.
