“But the trailer is locked,” Charlotte objected.
Zed grinned at her. “It’s cute that you think locks will keep them out.”
Charlotte shook her head. “I don’t like that.”
“Can’t say I blame you,” Sonja assured her. “The social rules down here are a little different. Jillian and Bael had to post the invitation on the community billboard, because you exclude one person and there will be a reckoning, either magically or socially. If we hadn’t put Clarissa in charge of the food, I don’t know if we would have had any idea what to do. But despite my catering ineptitude, if you have any questions about anyone or anything, I am your point person. Because if Will doesn’t know, I’ll know.”
“Meanwhile, I’ll be in a cave somewhere,” Jillian muttered.
Sonja grinned at her and wrapped her arm around her shoulders. “Bael wants you to have a chance to rest, sweetie. Not to mention some post-wedding privacy. Take advantage. Trust me and Leonard to keep things running while you’re gone. You’ll be back bossing us around in no time.”
“It’s not that I don’t trust you. It’s that I don’t like missing out on things,” Jillian replied, her pout making Sonja laugh. “It takes weeks for me to catch up!”
At the mention of the pie-endangerer, Charlotte scanned the crowd for Leonard. Something about that skittering sensation of fairy magic up her spine in the middle of a wedding reception made her incredibly uneasy. She looked for him among the smiling, laughing faces celebrating a couple so clearly on their way to a bright and happy future.
But he was gone.

Leonard
When you nearly take out your boss’s de facto wedding cake because of a fairy curse, surely your next day at work had to be easier by comparison. Right?
Leonard O’Donnell had been prepared for something to happen at Jillian’s wedding. Even though he had no direct role in the ceremony, being around that many people, in dress clothes, with the emotional stakes so high, he knew the jitters would get the best of him and disaster would follow. He hadn’t expected to trip and come dangerously close to toppling Siobhan’s masterwork of pie, but with the curse, you never really knew what was going to happen on big occasions for O’Donnells. His poor cousin, Shannon, had dropped her groom’s wedding ring during the ceremony, then knocked a candelabra over when she bent to pick it up and set her gown on fire. If not for a quick-thinking flower girl who doused her in holy water, Shannon would have spent her honeymoon in the ER.
