- BEYOND NEOM:
- About the Author
Extremely popular Martian actor, possibly an Other impersonating a human. Star of countless pictures, including the classic Night of the Tokoloshe and the Red Dead Martian trilogy from Phobos Studios. Often appears together with SIVAN SHOSHANIM.
Exodus ships
Vast, slow generation starships. They have been departing the solar system for centuries, in search of new worlds. What happens to them remains unknown.
F
Flora of the solar system
The robot was not the only one to appreciate a rose. Prominent solar system species include the Alice rose, which grows only on TERESHKOVA PORT, the rare Black Lunar Rose of the moon and multiple Martian orchids. See also ADAPTOPLANT.
G
Galilean Republics
The three rich moons of Jupiter—Ganymede, Callisto and Io—are the source of as much of the Outer System’s riches as of its conflict. Much of the violence—often referred to as the TRIFALA KING WAR—concerns dynastic infighting, but rebel armies and resistance forces, some driven by religious fervour, form with regularity around the forbidden moon of Europa. Conflict aside, the Galilean Republics are a source of great wealth, bustling commerce and art, and fiercely guard their independence and identity as separate from the rest of the solar system.
Gateway
Earth orbit’s main and largest habitat. It is said there are few things one can’t find on Gateway—for a price. Ships depart from Gateway across the solar system, while reusable launch vehicles and sub-orbitals fly from Gateway to Earth regularly, providing a vital link for the planet, also called Humanity Prime and Womanhome.
Gel Blong Mota
An old Inner System transport ship. She got her name from the famous song, which starts:
Gel blong Mota
Kam long solwota
Bae mi tekem yu
Long haos blong mi . . .
Gene shamans
Amateur genome sequencers and gene manipulators, backyard geneticists with dubious morals. They are mostly harmless, but if they try to sell you a roc’s egg you should think twice.
Ghost
The digital remnant left in a human NODE following a person’s death.
Ghost Collector
Person of ceremonial significance who is tasked with removing the hardcoded remains in a dead person’s NODE (see GHOST) to transport for preservation, burial or, commonly, to a digital Heaven.
Guilds of Ashkelon universe
One of the largest and most successful virtual game universes, based around a space opera theme and generally believed to be managed by OTHERS. Played across and within local hubs throughout the solar system. Many people work in-universe, as starship captains, bounty hunters and treasure seekers, either gold-mining or trading valuable one-off virtual items in the physicality.
H
Hafmek
A derogatory term for a cyborged human. Mostly obsolete.
