“She’s perfect for the part,” Emma said as they watched her go. Then turning to Sophia, she added, “Then again, you could’ve been, too.”
“No way,” Sophia said without glancing up from a monitor she was studying.
“Be honest, though,” Talia nudged. “Now that you’ve been on both sides of the camera, do you miss being in front of the lens?”
Sophia finally looked up, her dark eyes deep and serious. “Not at all. I know a lot of people would think that the stardom was a lot to give up, but in return I got everything I’ve ever really wanted, and a few things I’d never even dared to dream of.”
Vic smiled, contentedly. She couldn’t have said it better herself.
About the Author
About the Author
Rachel Spangler never set out to be a New York Times-reviewed author. They were just so poor during seven years of college that they had to come up with creative forms of cheap entertainment. The debut novel, Learning Curve, was born out of one such attempt. Since writing is more fun than a real job and so much cheaper than therapy, they continued to type away, leading to the publication of The Long Way Home, LoveLife, Spanish Heart, Does She Love You, Timeless, Heart of the Game, Perfect Pairing, Close to Home, Edge of Glory, In Development, Love All, Full English, Spanish Surrender, Straight Up, Modern English, Fire and Ice and Straight Up. Now a four-time Lambda Literary Award finalist, an IPPY, Goldie, and Rainbow Award winner, and the recipient of the 2018 Alice B. Reader medal, Rachel plans to continue writing as long as anyone, anywhere, will keep reading.
In 2018 Spangler joined the ranks of Bywater Books content editing team. They now hold the title of senior romance editor for the company and love having the opportunity to mentor young authors.
Rachel lives in Western New York with wife Susan and son Jackson. The Spangler family spends the long winters curling and skiing. In the summer, they love to travel and watch their beloved St. Louis Cardinals. Regardless of the season, Rachel always makes time for a good romance, whether reading it, writing it, or living it.
