- Epilogue
His obvious pleasure fueled her enthusiasm as she worked him over with her hand and mouth.
“That’s enough,” he said through gritted teeth. “Kate, come on. Stop.”
The excitement of yet another new experience kept her going until he moaned and came with a surge of his hips.
“Christ almighty,” he whispered when she crawled up to rest on top of him.
“Is that a good thing?”
“Yes,” he said with a chuckle as he tightened his arms around her. “Definitely a good thing. You are the most amazing woman, and I love you so much.”
Pleased with herself, Kate touched her lips to his and was startled when he suddenly flipped her over.
“Your turn,” he said with a gleam in his eye.
Reid drove like a race-car driver on the way into town. He took the Green Hills exit and looked over at her with an amused expression. “How did I go from being early to running late?”
“Well, first I kissed you right here,” she said, reaching over to him.
The car swerved. “Kate!” he gasped. “Quit that.”
She laughed. “You’re so jumpy.”
“Keep your hands to yourself,” he said as he pulled into the lot at her apartment complex and parked.
“You don’t really want me to keep my hands to myself.” She ran her hand up his leg and nibbled on his ear. “I know better.”
“Katherine, I’ve turned you into a regular sex fiend. I already let you have your way with me, and now I’m going to be hideously late.”
“I love when you get all proper like that and call me Katherine,” she purred, burying her hands in his hair and kissing him with abandon.
“Keep that up and you’re going to end up with your skirt tossed over your head in broad daylight, Katherine.”
She laughed. “Bring it on.” Her laughter froze in her throat when she looked out the car window and saw her father watching them. “Oh, shit.”
Reid stopped kissing her neck long enough to ask, “What?”
“My dad.”
Reid gasped and pulled away from her.
Kate’s stomach lurched, and her heart pounded. Her father wore the tight-lipped expression he saved for only the most extreme circumstances, and this certainly qualified.
Reid squeezed her hand and got out of the car. “Jack—”
Jack held up a hand to stop him. “Don’t talk,” he said in an icy tone as his other hand curled into a fist at his side. “Don’t say a single word.”
“Dad,” Kate said as she came around the car to him.
“Get in there and pack your stuff. Now!”
“Dad, come in, let’s talk, please,” Kate said with tears rolling down her face.
Jack’s lips got thinner and whiter, and his wild-looking eyes made her wonder if he’d been up all night. She’d never seen him like this.
