  4. ABOUT THE AUTHOR

There's the one who likes coconut flavor Perle de Lait, the one who likes Kinder Schoko-bons and drinks beer, there's the one who uses Weleda creams, the one who drives a motorbike, the one who wears red lipstick, the one who wears football shorts, the one who does yoga, the ones who have kids, the ones who have dogs, the ones who have cats, the ones who have husbands, the ones who have a girlfriend, the ones who have a dad, the ones who have a shrink, the ones who have a hobby, the ones who like Sonic Youth, Dinu Lipatti, Black Flag, pills and electro, the ones who watch TV, the ones who go to the theater, the ones who smoke cigarettes, the ones who smoke weed, the ones who snort coke, the ones who are anorexic, the ones who are obsessed with food, the ones who sleep all morning, the insomniacs, the ones who yell, the ones who don't come, the ones who provide a running commentary, the ones who know, the ones who don't know, the ones who sleep naked, the ones who fall in love with me too fast, the ones who fall out of love without warning, the ones who dress me, the ones who undress me, the silent ones.

I like sex in the same way I like looking at people in the street, watching someone walk right in front of you without knowing them, the feeling of being so close and yet so distant. I like first times, one-night stands. I like first times because it doesn't have to be a good fuck, hardly anyone is good the first time, at least I'm not, because it doesn't matter, nothing matters the first time. I like first times because I like having sex with no strings attached, no reassurance, no obligations, no talks, no precedent, no familiarity. I like first times because they change your life without changing your life. I like the experience in itself. The innocence.

He draws a picture in my notebook, he signs his initials, he adds a D, he says, I think there should be a D because. He leaves the sentence hanging. I put my hand on his, I crouch down so I'm looking up at him, I say, It's going to be OK you know, it's going to be OK. He says, Yes, I know. We talk about something else. Then suddenly we're tired. We just want it to be over. We're exhausted from all the talking, talking in the way we're supposed to, playing the roles we have to play at the meeting space, we can't take any more. In one week, he'll be ten.
