- CHRONICLES OF THE BASE (TIMELINE)
——But, in the records of humanity, there is no lack of any records or debates about him. The humans believe their history is a long, flowing river; he doesn’t speak, hiding himself in this long river, but every shadow of a ripple seems to have him in it.
And after many years, how will humanity think of him? Will there be those who love him? Will there be those who hate him? Will there be those who doubt his existence?
How to make him a little more real?
I don’t know.
He’s loved some people. His mother, his friends, his subordinates. He hasn’t really hated anyone though.
He also likes humans, but there are at least twice where he felt bone-cutting loneliness within the human crowd. The first time was Judgement Day, on top of the city gate. The second time was when the Judge’s puppet was assassinated by the opposition faction. At that time, did he feel a sense of loss? For what reason did he feel at a loss? Because of the people who didn’t understand him? Because of himself? Because of humanity as a whole? Or because of the truth that humans will never truly understand each other?
I don’t know.
Every time I think of these things, I’d always be too sad to speak.
Sometimes I’d also think, why is it the two of us who have come to be always together? When he catches my mycelium in his hand, can he break free from the eternal loneliness? I can talk with him, but what can we talk about? We are the most different of people, the people of the research institute never understood how we can get along in peace.
I asked Polly. Polly said, “Actually, you two are the most similar of people in this world.”
I don’t get it.
Polly said, “When you’re a bit older, and have reached the age when you can look back on the past, you will understand.”
But when that time comes, where will he be, and where will I be?
We’ll probably be traveling the world together.
Okay, I’m done.
I need to go prepare his new year’s present now!
CHAPTER 91: THE COLONEL’S DIARY (EXTRA)
Mushroom said my diary is too perfunctory. His own diary isn’t truthful either.
All the things he said he doesn’t know, he actually does know.
What a coquette.
