Then, “Holy shit, there are so many people, let’s just go. This is ours. Fuck yeah. I can’t believe this is reality. Fuck yeah, we’ve accomplished this shit. This is fucking history. We’re all part of this fucking history.”
From someone else: “WHOOP WHOOP WHOOP!” Then horns. More WHOOPs. “Listen to them all back there! Let’s go. Let’s go. This is beautiful shit. OH MY GOD, they are climbing up the wall. They are climbing up the wall! Let’s go. Let’s go. You guys are savage. We did it. We did it. Let’s burn this shit down.”
From someone else: “Is that a gun? Is that a gun?” Answer: “Rubber bullets.”
The crowd pushing through the Capitol doors is now much smaller than the throng on the steps and seems for a moment confused and aimless. MAGA hats, camouflage jackets, and flags.
Echoing voices. “Our house! Our house!”
From the Capitol Police: “You’ve got to go outside. Come on. Come on. Come on, guys.”
One response: “Hey, there’s too many people here. You’re not gonna stop this from happening. Hey, I’m just recording this. I’m just trying to record what we got going down. No freedom of the press here?”
Capitol Police: “Just hold everybody. Hold!”
Crowd: “USA! USA! USA! USA!”
Voice: “This is a scene! Holy Shit. What reality is this? We took this shit!”
“Fucking yeah, fucking yeah, fucking yeah!”
“Fuck it, we’re going upstairs.”
“Is there anybody on live stream right now?”
“This is 2021, you all. This is insanity. Holy shit. What is this? What is life right now? I’m shook. I’m shook. I cannot believe this shit. This is surreal, dude. I never would have imagined that we would be here. Dude, I was trying to tell you. Is this not going to be the best film you’ve ever made in your life? This is unreal. Wow!”
“Oh, my god. Oh, my god.”
“This is surreal. But this is real life. But this seems like a movie. Treasure this moment.”
Crowd: “Stop the steal, stop the steal, stop the steal.”
Crowd: “We want Trump. We want Trump. We want Trump. We want Trump. We want Trump.”
Protestor: “Stand down. You’ve got to stand down. This is not going to end well. No, it’s not. The military is on its way.”
“They’re not going to shoot everybody.”
“Listen up, we’ve got to be calm. We’ve got to be calm.”
Suddenly the mob pushes forward—a sea of cameras (and MAGA hats).
“Use your crow bar.”
“Back up. Back up.”
“As soon as they lock down the building, we’re all getting arrested.”
“You’ll be fine. It’s only a little jail time. I do this all the time.”
“The cops are leaving!”
“They are giving us the building.”
“Break it down. Break it down.”
“I wish somebody had a boom box. Revolutionary music.”
