“No, I definitely want to. I’m surprised, that’s all.” She’s trying, but failing, to hide the smirk on her face. “Are you guys talking regularly now or what?”

Groaning, I rub my hands down my face. She’s going to get a kick out of this. “He actually took my phone number yesterday after he asked me so he can text me the details.”

“And?”

“And he texted me today, but I haven’t responded yet.” I bring the shot glass to my lips, emptying the contents into my mouth, and hoping like hell this is the one that brings me to tipsy.

“Cash! What did it say?” She downs her shot too, slamming the empty glass down on the counter.

“You know… he’s excited for us to come, and he told me where it was at.”

“And you guys haven’t spoken today? In person?”

“Nah, I had back-to-back classes. Plus, we don’t always see each other during the workday.”

“Damn. Well, this weekend should be interesting. I can’t wait to meet him.” She wiggles her brows suggestively, and I roll my eyes, laughing.

“C’mon. Let’s watch some TV before I have to go to bed.”

******

Saturday arrived way too fast. After my one class of the day yesterday, Kylie and I went exploring. There’s not really a whole lot to see in Lubbock, but I did show her around the University, and we went out for lunch and drinks, before going back to my place to get wasted while watching our comfort movies—Dirty Dancing and Pretty Woman.

We ended up passing out on the couch at who knows what time, not waking up until late into the morning today, hungover as shit.

This biker party is like an all-afternoon type thing. Stone said he was getting there early, but we could show up whenever. It’s a quarter to three now, and Kylie is getting ready while I try to calm my chaotic nerves. I don’t know which part makes me more uneasy: Kylie meeting Stone and potentially saying something fucking stupid, or seeing Stone in general outside of school, with alcohol, where anything could happen.

And that poses another question… Do I want something to happen?

No… right?

I’m pulling up my jeans and buttoning them, when my phone pings on my dresser. It’s a text from Stone, and my stomach leaps to my throat.

Stone: Hey! Know when you’ll be here?

Me: Kylie is getting ready now. Then we’ll leave. So within the hour?

Me: Ky also wants to know if there will be any “hot biker daddies”...

Stone: HAHA! There are definitely a few of those.

Me: Dope. We’ll see ya soon.
