Lorcan had moved into my cottage and now only occasionally forgot to duck under the low beams. We’d thought about moving, perhaps into the newly completed Victorian schoolhouse conversion, but decided against it. Both of us loved the cottage, its cosiness, its feeling of home. My husband, especially, was a fan of the open fire. And, after one particular night on a new sheepskin rug he’d brought home, so was I. I’d even taken up gardening. I’d kept things neat before but hadn’t had a clue what I was doing. Now I took a proper interest and we could often be found nosing around the local garden centre together on a weekend, along with Bod, of course, – something I didn’t think either of us had envisioned. But I loved it. And I loved Lorcan. He’d taught me to slow down, to literally smell our newly planted roses. My life was so much more now, thanks to him. I’d said yes to him that day, and yes to taking the time to enjoy life and all that it had to offer, and the rewards were wonderful.
ACKNOWLEDGMENTS
As usual, thanks to the fabulous team at Boldwood Books for helping me get yet another book out into the world. I’m constantly grateful for their enthusiasm, support and determination to get my books in front of more readers. It’s wonderful.
Also, thanks to copy editor, Sue and proof reader, Rose who are both brilliant and patiently help improve things and fix all the oddities.
I’d also like to thank Gloria Sanders, something I should have done before this, for the fabulous audio versions she creates of my books. She’s so thorough in her preparation, and hugely talented. And I’m sorry, Gloria, I’ve thrown yet another accent your way with this book but I know you will be absolutely brilliant, as always.
Thanks to all my writing pals who understand that this bonkers writing life isn’t all about laying back, being fed grapes and dictating the odd sentence. In fact, sadly it’s not about that at all. It’s more about abandoning the laundry/housework/hairwashing as a deadline looms!
And with that in mind, I’d also like to thank James for being totally accepting of this and making sure we eat when I’m buried in the words.
And, of course, thank you to you, the reader, for choosing this book and hopefully enjoying it. Without you, I wouldn’t be able to do this so thank you so much. Happy reading!
