So it was something like an engagement. That didn’t bring the terror I thought it would. Instead, warmth nestled in my heart. “Teach me the words?”

He did, repeating them until I had the pronunciation correct.

I knelt in front of him and took his hands in mine. “Cho arbu chil tavoz.”

As soon as the words left my lips, Torran crushed me to his chest. His mouth slanted over mine, hot and needy. I moaned and parted my lips, desperate to have him closer. Just when I thought he would comply, he pulled back with a groan. “Can your crew get us to Bastion?” he asked, his eyes on fire.

I nodded and licked my lips.

“Good.” He stood and scooped me up in his arms. “Your room or mine?”

“Mine.”

He pressed another kiss to my lips, like he couldn’t wait any longer, then headed into the main part of the ship, where we promptly ran into Lexi and Kee. Lexi smirked and Kee gave me a thumbs-up.

“Tell Eli he’s in charge for a while,” I called over Torran’s shoulder when he didn’t break stride. “And I don’t want to be disturbed unless the world is ending.”

“Don’t worry. We’ve got it!” Kee shouted back.

I disabled my comm implant. If they needed to get ahold of me, they could use the ship’s intercom. The door to my quarters slid open at our approach. Torran glanced around at the office, then unerringly strode for the bedroom.

Despite my desire, the nerves that I hadn’t experienced earlier decided to make their presence known. I wanted Torran and he wanted me, but getting completely naked with someone for the first time was always a little awkward.

Rather than placing me on the bed, Torran let my legs down and carefully set me on my feet. He ran his hands from my shoulders to my fingertips, then held my hands. “I would very much like to take you to bed,” he growled, his pupils blown. Silver spread through his irises, brightening his eyes.

“I would like that, too,” I assured him. I glanced up at him from under my lashes. “I seem to recall a certain former general making some very bold promises a few days ago.”

Torran gave me a look of such intense, searing yearning that I nearly combusted on the spot. “And I plan to keep every one,” he ground out, his voice gravel and sin.

I reached up and wrapped my hand around the back of his head. I played with his short hair for a moment, loving the soft feel of it against my palm, then I drew his head down and met him halfway. Firm and warm, his lips glided over mine with gentle pressure.

Until I licked him.
