She could hear the fear in Lillian as her heart thudded and her blood rushed. Lillian hurried back to her table.
Victorija couldn’t believe her luck. Lucia, her grandmother, was unprotected. If she could kill her, then she would have killed the two people who had hurt her most.

Over the next few weeks, life started to settle down for Amelia. They heard nothing more from Victorija and the Dreds, and Amelia was slowly coming to terms with a new world of vampires and other paranormal creatures.
Amelia and Daisy were just finishing up with her second client of the afternoon, a rather elderly and rotund member of the House of Lords who appreciated her talent for designing a flattering suit for his size.
Amelia took the last measurement and Daisy wrote it down. “I think that’s all we need for size. So, it’s the grey houndstooth fabric, and the dark blue herringbone, Your Lordship?”
“I wish you’d call me Dickie, young Amelia.”
Amelia looked at Daisy and winked.
“Okay, Dickie, when can you come back for a fitting?”
Dickie started to chuckle as Daisy helped him back on with his jacket. “Anytime you like, my dear. It’s a delight to be helped by two such pretty girls, although I see you are spoken for now.” Dickie pointed to her ring, and Amelia couldn’t help but smile.
The last few weeks had been the happiest of her life, apart from a team of vampires and warriors following her everywhere.
“Yes, I am. Very happily taken.”
“I hope the young man is worthy of you, my dear,” Dickie said.
Before Amelia got a chance to say anything, Daisy piped in, “Yes, her young man is a billionaire woman banker.”
Dickie looked confused and gave Daisy a withering look.
“Yes,” Daisy continued. “Byron Debrek. You might have heard of her?”
Realization dawned on him and he seemed to understand. “I see. I understand. Very powerful woman she is indeed, could bankrupt Britain on a whim,” he joked.
Amelia’s phone started to ring, and she checked it quickly. It was Byron. “I’m sorry about that. I thought I had it on silent.”
“Don’t worry, my dear. On you go, and I’ll finish up with the delightful Daisy.” Dickie waggled his eyebrows suggestively.
“Thank you, Dickie.”
Daisy whispered as she passed, “I’ll get you for that.”
She hit Call Back and walked down a corridor to the storeroom for some privacy.
“Good afternoon mia cara. How are you?”
“Hi, sweetheart. I’m fine, can’t wait to see you tonight. Where are you?”
“I’m in Paris, but I’ll be back in time for a dinner. A nice quiet dinner, in the drawing room, and then we could eat dessert in front of the fire, hmm? I’ll have something brought in for us.”
