While the author’s disclaimer that Hogg is not pornography for heterosexual women, for heterosexual men, for male homosexuals, or for Lesbians is accurate (But, if it isn’t, who is it for? Another reason to call it “anti-pornography”), what I can say, finally, is that Hogg is a book for anyone who finds the novel itself fascinating; for anyone who wants to see the effects that occur when this most un-novelistic of material is subjected to an intricate, re-complicated (I borrow this term from Knight’s early criticism of Harness and Bester; it refers to a formal, self-critical narrative device, such as the Burning Man in The Stars of My Destination or, indeed, the fugal broadcast in Hogg) form.

I predict the book will be discussed.

If I am wrong and it falls from our attention, my prediction, as it appears here with it, will vanish too.
