It was too late. From his seat at the front of the bus, Coach Murphy rose. He ripped off his Bose headphones and glared around at everyone. “The fuck are you all doing?”
Cursing, Willow forced himself into the nearest seat, shoving Curtis Ingram over.
Murphy cast his eyes around. “The attitude in here is a little high considering what we just failed to do at Geelong, boys.”
Logan sat, shame-faced. Willow stuck his tongue out at him.
“Williams!”
Willow tried for a winning smile. “Yes, coach?”
Murphy gave him a look that could melt steel. “You’re a fucking embarrassment.”
Willow cast his head down, gritting his teeth so he wouldn’t say anything. The coach could be fiery, but this was a low blow, even for him. Murphy stood there for a little longer, but by the time Willow looked up, he’d retaken his seat.
“Coach’s in a mood, hey?” Curtis muttered.
“Yeah,” he agreed, but he didn’t give a shit. He had bigger problems to deal with. Back in his own seat, he searched Francis Buchanan’s Instagram. His profile photo was him in a hot spring with three girls on either side of him.
“Fuckhead.”
Still, there was no denying Buchanan was a pretty boy. He had the kind of hair he was always jealous of. Thick and straight. Easy to swish into whatever style was in. He had to wear his hair long so the curls dragged down and he didn’t look like Ronald McDonald. Skimming Buchanan’s profile, Willow saw that most of his content was promotional stuff about shows or sponsors. He’d broken form, posting a casual picture with Eden. Willow could guess why. In the comments, fights were already breaking out about whether Eden was cheating on Sloan Williams. It was free publicity for Francis, piggy-backing on their relationship hype and massive fanbase. Unless he was overthinking it and Buchanan really did just want to fuck Eden.
He stared at Eden, looking gorgeous next to her fuckboy crush, and jealousy of an entirely unerotic nature coursed through him like poison. Was this an innocent mistake, or was she done with their fake relationship? With him?
“Hey, man.” Psycho dropped into the seat beside him. “I heard what happened. With Logan and the photo and everything.”
“It’s all good, brother. Don’t worry about me.”
Psycho didn’t look reassured. “You’re not gonna do anything, are you?”
“To Logan? Or Francis Buchanan?”
“Either.”
Willow shook his head. “Don’t worry about it.”
“Maybe you should just talk to Eden. Tell her you’re like… super in love with her and see what she sa—”
Willow pressed a hand over his mouth. “Keep your voice down or these guys’ll tear me a new one.”
Psycho pulled away. “Or they’ll be more respectful because they’ll know it’s a real relationship and not just someone you’re messing around with.”
