Eden pressed her legs together. “What is our arrangement going to be exactly?”
“Well, I was thinking after this we’d take a little walk in the park over there.” He pointed at the window where a green space was visible. “I’ll take a photo of the two of us and I’ll post it and tell the whole world Bunny Descent is my girlfriend.”
Eden remembered what he’d said about her eye bags. She’d need to reapply concealer before the photo happened. “You announce it and then what?”
“Next weekend we fly to Sydney and go to Claudia Meccano’s party. You don’t have any shows on Saturday, do you?”
“I think so, but Cheryl and Andy would cancel so I could go to an Oscar winners’ party.” She poked at a boiled carrot, embarrassed but determined to ask. “Would I… buy a plane ticket?”
“Yeah, if you want me to tear it up at the airport.”
“What?”
“I’m paying. Tickets. Hotel. Everything.”
A little thrill went through her. “But you’re not my boyfriend.”
“Yeah, but it has to look legit. Otherwise, what’s the point?”
“Okay. So, what are our rules going to be?”
He frowned. “Rules?”
“You know, should we post three times a week? Less? More? Should I tag you in stuff? Should I tell people I’m writing a song about you?”
“What?”
Eden’s stomach dropped. “Never mind.”
Willow smirked, every inch the smug, Scottish doctor.
“Stop looking at me like that.”
He rearranged his face into a solemn expression. “Better?”
“Thank you.”
“Anytime. As far as everything else goes—all the media stuff—why don’t you leave it to me? I’ll make us look good. I’m a pro with that kind of thing.”
He did have a mighty Instagram following. Hundreds of thousands more than Derek Hardiman, who was by far the bigger name.
“Okay, I’ll leave it to you,” she said. “But I’ll have Cheryl get in touch and tell you about ‘my brand.’”
“Sure.”
“What should we do when we break up?”
Willow started like she’d fired a gun. “Break up?”
“Yeah, like in June or a few weeks from now. Once we’ve made it look legit.”
He continued to stare at her like she was crazy. “Why don’t we just keep going until we decide we’re done?”
“That might be hard to sell when I’m doing body shots off some biker in Lithuania.”
Willow frowned.
“I’m going on tour? I told you. I’ll be gone for months, even if I don’t get a slot with Francis.”
“Francis?” Willow’s nostrils flared and Eden suddenly understood how a guy as nice as him could throw people around a football field.
“You’re talking to Francis, huh?”
