Against her better judgement, Eden opened her eyes. “Um, Francis Buchanan?”

“The DJ?”

She flushed. “I… yeah. Do you know him?”

“I saw him at Fiasco last night and he shows up in my discover weekly playlists sometimes.” Willow looked like he was stopping himself from saying more with difficulty. “So, you’re into him?”

“I don’t know. But he might ask me on his European tour, which would be amazing.”

“Right.”

Eden tugged at her dress, suddenly too hot in her own skin. “Nothing’s happening between me and Francis right now and I don’t know why I’m telling you this, but I want to be honest.”

“Sure.”

They sat in weighty silence. Eden wanted to ask if he was seeing anyone else, but the idea made her nauseous. Why? She and Willow had met yesterday. Why did this feel so fucking serious?

“Hiii!” A woman stumbled up to their table, dark-haired and obviously tipsy. “Sloan?”

Eden looked at Willow. His expression had become relaxed, friendly. “Hi. How’s your night going?”

The woman almost fell over. “So good! I can’t believe it’s you! I’m a massive Hammers fan!”

Well, that explained everything. Eden picked at loose taco filling as Willow chatted with the woman about his latest game and Derek Hardiman. She envied his fan rapport. He didn’t look like he wanted to run away at all.

After a few minutes, the woman turned to her. “Are you the DJ from Sloan’s Instagram?”

God, it was weird to hear people call Willow ‘Sloan.’

“That’s me.”

“I’ll have to check out your music.” She shot Willow a smile. “You two are adorable. How long have you been dating?”

Willow touched a hand to his mouth. “A little while. Eden’s incredible.”

The woman sighed. “So cute. Can I get a picture?”

“Of the two of us?” Willow looked to her and Eden tried to scream ‘no’ with her eyes. It must have worked because he smiled at the woman. “How about just me?”

Eden took the photo for them, then the drunk Willow fan staggered away. “That was nic—”

Willow banged a fist on the table. “Here’s my pitch!”

“You have a pitch?”

“I have a pitch. You want a tour. You want better opportunities for your team. You need money and exposure.”

She smiled. “I do.”

“So let me help you. Let’s get together and pretend to be a couple.”

The tacos turned to lead in her stomach. “That’s insane!”

“Is it?” Willow tipped his head at his departing fan. “You heard her; we look good together. And me posting about you already got you a bunch of followers.”

“I don’t want to use you.”

He raised a red brow. “What if I like being used?”
