  26. About the Author

“You’re trying very hard to resist me.” I shift in his lap, which makes him suck in a sharp breath. “Which is funny because you can’t keep your hands off of me.”

“Says the girl on top of me.”

“I’m very willing to switch positions.”

His grip on my hips tightens, suggesting that he’s very okay with the position we’re in now. So I slip my hands over his shoulders and behind his neck and grin at him with a menacing smile. His eyes turn electric, a shock zipping through me as he holds my stare.

It’s now or never, Olivia.

“I’m going to kiss you,” I tell him.

“I know you are.”

“Are you suggesting I’m predictable, Mr. McGowan?”

“One could assume what your intentions were when you climbed on top of me.”

I almost want to crawl off of him and play hard to get, but his hands trail from my hips to my back to my bum and our lips are so close that I can practically taste his. Now is not the time to tease the hell out of him.

My lips barely brush his. It’s a soft kiss. Subtle and shy and quick. I press my lips to his jaw, sharp and defined and so tempting, and I trail my way down to his neck, where I blow a soft breath against his nape until I hear a quiet laugh escape his mouth.

“You’re not supposed to know about that.”

“Mm, but I do.”

I kiss my way up his neck and over his jaw and when I reach his lips, it’s lightning. Fireworks on the Fourth of July. The first stroke of midnight on New Year’s Eve. We’re magic.

He tastes sweet. They’re raspberry and chocolate kisses, rich and deep and almost sinful. His hands are everywhere. All over me. He doesn’t know where he wants to touch first. I smile into him before I roll my hips in calculated motions. He moans into my mouth.

When he toys with the hem of my shirt, I realize there’s too many layers between us. I nip his bottom lip before I pull away to allow him to take off my shirt. He throws it somewhere near the coffee table and then puts his hands back on me, trailing tiny bumps over my entire body.

I’ve never wanted someone as much as I want him.

I don’t have to ask if the feeling is mutual. I can feel it. He wants me just as much as I want him.

He runs his thumb over the underwire of my bra, his fingers disappearing around my back. He undoes the clasp with skilled ease. He barely has it off before he’s sitting up and forcing my back onto the couch. The shift in weight is delicious.
