  26. About the Author

He did call me a dozen times and he may have shown up at my apartment, but Anouk told him to go to hell in seven different languages. But whatever. If I meant something to him, he would have stopped Bree before the kissing started.

Or maybe I have it all wrong and Asher was the one that initiated all the kissing.

Maybe I am just another intern to him.

But I can’t worry about that now. Because my phone won’t stop ringing. And the text messages and emails just keep coming. And I have no idea what to do first.

So I order another round of stuffed French toast, and start fielding calls from all the major media outlets.

Ana shoves a handful of popcorn into her mouth as we watch the recap of River McGowan walking into court on a sixty-five inch TV. The fire is roaring, the face masks are foaming, and justice is being served.

“I can’t believe I ever agreed to work with him,” Ana says, grabbing more popcorn from the bowl she has resting on her bump. “What a slime ball. I hope he rots.”

I take a break from tickling Lily’s toes to look over at Ana. “How’s the transition going?”

“Good,” she says. “It’s a lot of lawyer talk and business garbage. We’ll stay in the same offices, make some staffing adjustments, and most importantly—drop the McGowan from our name.”

“So just Loveridge International?” I ask.

“I’m thinking WLS International,” she says. “Willa. Lily. Scarlett.”

“Scarlett?” I ask. “Are you having another girl?”

Ana nods, giving her belly a little tap of love and affection.

“She thinks she’s so clever,” Willa says.

“She’s bloody brilliant,” Ollie says from his spot on the floor. He, too, has on a bubble face mask and he’s strumming his guitar like a jet-lagged zombie.

He surprised Willa last night. The recap of their reunion was all very romantic. There was hiding in closets and flying elbows and bruised ribs. Screaming profanities and a crying baby. A real Hallmark classic. If I wasn’t in such a state of distress, I would have written an entire fan fiction about how much I love them together.

“Is my face supposed to feel numb?” Ollie asks.

“Depends,” Willa says.

“On what?”

“Does your face feel numb?”

“Yes.”

“Then maybe you should go wash your mask off.”

I laugh when I see Ollie glaring at Willa. Because even when his face is foamy and he’s annoyed, he still looks at her like she’s the best thing that has ever happened to him.
