Chapters (41)
I narrowed my eyes. “So, then why do you still look so worried?”
“Well, there’s another thing. I don’t know if it’s just a rumor.”
My gut twisted. “What is it, Serena?”
“I need you to stay calm, and—”
“Tell me what it is,” I said, fisting my hands around the edge of the stool. “Just give it to me straight.”
“You’ll stay calm?”
“Doubt it.”
She tightened her grip on my knee and sighed. “Alright, fine. I guess I can’t blame you. I wouldn’t be calm either. Lucifer is looking for you.”
I nodded, breathing in sharply through my nose. “Right, okay. We saw this coming. It was only a matter of time. That’s why Az hid me. It’s fine. Totally fine. I’m protected here, right? Fake name, new apartment. No one knows how to find me except for you and Az.”
“There’s more,” she whispered.
My heart rattled. “What more could there possibly be?”
“Lucifer wants to make you his bride.”
