From what I can tell, it isn’t a harmful spell, so I act as if I see nothing. The witch is devious, and I like it. Whatever fun she’s planning to have with me, I’ll allow it. If she thinks I need a performance potion, she would be wrong. The moment she lets me have her, she won’t be leaving the bed for days. I’m kind of excited to feel the effect of whatever spell she’s cast on me.

She sips her drink, and I can tell she’s deep in thought. Blair’s curious, and I wonder how much of this pull she’s feeling on her end. I place a reassuring hand on her back and it occurs to me she lives in the modern day world and likely follows many mortal customs.

I hand her my phone. “Your number?” I ask confidently. She smiles and puts her number in my phone. “I’m busy tomorrow night, but maybe we could do something tonight?”

“She’s busy tonight,” the redhead says out of nowhere. Maybe I should take the time to remember her name. She looks down at her phone. “Blair, we need to leave in twenty minutes.”

Blair groans and looks at me, like she’s trying to figure out a puzzle. “What are you doing tomorrow night?”

“Meeting an old friend.” It’s a lie, but I don’t know her well enough to tell her all of my business. She nods and takes a sip. “Maybe the night after?”

“Plan something memorable and I might consider a date with you,” she teases me, placing her small hand on my thigh. I can’t help it when I get hard for her.

I lean over and whisper in her ear. “You better stop teasing me, little witch, or I’ll pick you up and have my way with you in the back alley.”

She whispers her retort quickly. “That’s where you’re wrong, Dax. I’ll be having my way with you.” She kisses my cheek as she spins off the stool and heads to the back office with her fellow witch. A few other employees are still here and I would imagine they’re going to kick us out soon for closing time.

Asmo grumbles next to me. “We need to find a better bar.”

“Oh, you’re just sad none of the pretty witches wanted to fuck you.”

“Hey! I don’t see you getting laid either,” he says back.

I roll my eyes. “The anticipation and build up is half the fun. Especially with a woman like her.”

“Lucky bastard, I bet she’s into the nasty stuff.”

“We can only hope.” We clink our glasses as the women come to say goodbye.

“Heather will close the bar soon, but I guess I’ll see you around,” Blair says fiddling with her purse, and it’s the first time I haven’t seen her as the demanding, confident witch that she is. I don’t like it. I pull her in close, my hand on her waist.

“I’ll be seeing you sooner than you think. Sweet dreams, Blair.” If only she knew what I meant.
