I would be a liar if I said I hadn’t been with my fair share of mortals, but besides the fact that she’s a witch, I’ve never been so drawn to someone—ever. What I am causes me to be sexual by nature, but this is the strongest pull I’ve ever felt. Even if our magic wasn’t trying to force us together, her appearance and demeanor would do it for me. I want a woman who challenges me but also will let me challenge her. I haven’t been this excited about something since I got my corporeal body. A body that Blair seems to be attracted to. To a mere mortal, we look to have a significant age gap. My human form ages me at around forty five, Blair looks to be in her late twenties.
The couple plays a song. The man strums on his guitar while the woman sings. It’s a pleasant background noise, but not so loud that you can’t still hold a conversation. Blair smiles at them, and it appears genuine. She seems to have multiple sides of her personality, all of which I’m eager to get acquainted with.
Blair comes and stands between my legs—she’s a tiny little thing. She leans over the bar, and I think she’s going to touch me, but then she pulls back a cocktail that her co-worker has poured her. She takes a sip and places the drink back on the bar top. Little tease.
She leans against my side, not touching, but so I can hear her when she speaks. “How long will you be in town?”
“At least a few weeks. Anything you suggest we do in town while we’re here?”
“Oh, I can definitely think of some things.”
My hand is on the curve of her waist. The soft black fabric of her shirt rubs against my fingertips. I wish I was touching her skin. I’ve never felt this magnetic energy to touch someone the way I do with her. I pull her a little closer so her other hip is pushed against my leg. I watch the rise and fall of her breasts as she breathes heavier, but she seems to calm and melt against my touch.
“I’m open to all and any suggestions.”
“There’s the beach, of course, and plenty of hiking trails. The Halloween festival is coming up.”
“What happens at this festival?”
“You dress up, there’s food, games, prizes.”
“And you want to go?”
“I love dressing up, I love playing pretend,” she says, her eyes gleaming like deep pools of honey. “What do you like to do?”
What do I like? “I like my motorcycle, whiskey, and being able to relax.”
“Do you like to dance?” she asks, grabbing my hand and pulling me to the dance floor, not even giving me an opportunity to respond.
The band plays their rendition of Rhiannon by Fleetwood Mac, and I can’t help but laugh. Blair boldly places her hands around my neck and fiddles with my hair. I place one hand on her waist and the other on her back, pushing her closer to me. We’re nearly flush against each other. She’s warm and soft, and I have to stop all the thoughts of different ways I could position her body against mine.
