“I heard some shit about you, Mo, and I was like, nah,” he said, struggling to get it out as he shook his head. “Nah, she wouldn’t do no shit like that. I need you to tell me something different, because the girl I love wouldn’t do no foul shit like what I heard.”

“I can explain,” she answered. Morgan stood before him. It was judgment day. Time to answer for decisions she had made when Messiah had disappeared from her life. She hadn’t known they would come back to haunt her. She hadn’t anticipated that at all.

Ahmeek leaned forward and rubbed his hands together, then looked beyond his furrowed brow. “Are the twins Messiah’s?” he asked. His voice was sterner than it had ever been with her.

Why was this admission just as hard as it had been with Messiah? Morgan couldn’t even look him in the eyes. Her silence was shame-filled.

“They’re his,” she admitted.

Ahmeek scoffed, shaking his head as he stood.

“Ahmeek!” she called. She didn’t want to follow him, but her heart always marched to the beat of its own drum around him. Not even her pride could defy it. “Give me a chance to explain.”

She pulled his arm, and he spun on her so swiftly she startled. His hand gripped the bottom half of her face, pushing her pretty cheeks in firmly. She gasped. Murder Meek was in the building. Fire lived in his eyes.

“They’re his fucking kids, Morgan!” His voice echoed off the walls.

“I thought he was dead!” she cried.

“What about the rest of us? Huh? We were here! You had his kids and acted like nobody else gave a fuck! Got that ho-ass nigga taking the credit! Fuck is wrong with you? You let me fall in love with Messiah’s kids! Fucking with you was already enough to burn that man! Now he got to think about me loving on kids he don’t even know? You dirty as fuck, Mo. This is fucking the lowest shit, man.” Ahmeek was sick to his stomach at the revelation. “We would have taken care of his kids. We thought he was dead, and you didn’t even let us see his seeds. You didn’t give us a chance. He been back and you ain’t gave him a chance to know his kids. What the fuck is wrong with you? Are you that selfish?”

“He put me in an impossible position, Ahmeek. I didn’t do it to hurt anybody. I was trying to protect my babies. Bash was there for me, for them too. He’s not perfect, but he helped.”
