Lavinian has only five vowel sounds:
a = like the a in father
e = like the e in bet
i = like the i in pizza, or the double ee in beets.
o = like the o in boat (avoid any diphthongization ending with the rounding of lips)
u = like the oo in boot
Stressed syllables are in ALL CAPS, e.g., [la-VI-ni-yan]
Consonant combinations with h are pronounced:
sh = shoe; ch = cheese; zh = pleasure, azure
Consonant combinations with y (e.g., ty, ny) are pronounced like the soft consonants in words like tune and avenue, i.e., with that little y sound combined with the consonant:
ny = onion; canyon; lute; million
The combination dzh resembles the g and j sounds in George, or judge.
Whenever y occurs after a vowel, it is consonantal like in boy.
