Second murder. Carry Tomlin was connected to the first murder through her vocal opinions of the occult being responsible for Mary’s death. Had the killer posed as a source and they’d arranged to meet? No rage was evident but this was yet to be confirmed by Ted. That was a difference. The symbol of water arranged above her head connected the two murders further. Kelly made a note of the three other elements, including spirit, and googled all five. The problem with the internet was that once you pursued one search, something else popped up that stoked interest and, before you knew where you were, you had seventeen pages of information open.
She called the office to see if they’d had results for the tyre tracks found behind Mary’s garden lane, or any news on who Carry Tomlin had met or spoken to prior to her death. Her newspaper team was in shock, and they were trying to process what had happened. As a result, none of them were very helpful. The reporter hadn’t left a journal of daily appointments, she’d told no one where she was going when she left the office on Tuesday lunchtime, and her phone records had still to be sent back from Vodafone. None of her colleagues knew of an appointment that would take Carry south on the A591 late morning yesterday.
It was DS Will Phillips who looked into the tyre tracks taken from the lane, and he reported that the track specialist he’d been working with in a lab in Manchester had narrowed it down to a tyre used on Fiat campervans. It was a Michelin Agilis Camping Green X tyre with a distinct feathered shaped tread.
It was great news because they were so distinctive. However, campervans in the Lake District were like Range Rovers in Hampstead Heath.
Next she re-read the letters from The Teacher, but with a renewed context provided by Fred O’Reilly about seasons, balance and the goddess. She opened the most recent that she’d only read this morning (this time wearing plastic gloves) and it seemed a life time ago.

Hello Kelly,
Are you ignoring me?
She stared out of the window and realised that they were passing Crewe already. Her neck ached and she rubbed it. She went back to the rantings of a maniac.
