To my family, thank you for the unconditional support, even though it took forever and a day to share this part of me with you. You’ve always given me the freedom to explore my various creative pursuits and have cheered me on from the sidelines, no matter what I’m doing. Thank you for respecting my privacy, even if you didn’t understand the need for it, and for allowing me to blaze my own unconventional trail. There are parts of each of you in the foundation of who I am.
To my brilliant editor, Deanna, thank you for helping me whip this book into shape and for giving me the reassurance I needed whenever I was having doubts. Sorry for all of the smiles, glances, eyebrows, grins, waves, pursed lips, and arms wrapped around torsos. To Rebecca, thank you for cleaning up the manuscript and making sure things made sense. To Sergeant Janelle Shoihet, thank you for answering my police questions. To Monica, and Nina, who filled in while Monica was away, to Amanda, and everyone else at HQ I’ve interacted with in the past, thank you for being lovely points of contact during this process.
And to you, reading this, holding this in your hands—thank you for giving this book a chance.
About the Author
K. Monroe grew up in small-town Saskatchewan and began sharing her work online at the age of fourteen. She attended college in Vancouver, where she earned an associate certificate in graphic design. When she’s not writing, you can find her brainstorming ideas, singing along to every song in her music library, and fantasizing about decorating her dream apartment. Blackout is her debut novel.
