  71. About the Author

He grazed his thumb over her knuckles, then finished the knot. “How do you think people manage when they don’t have a sea witch on board?” He patted the rope and tried a reassuring smile.

She still wore the same stricken expression.

Seeing Vee afraid was frightening in itself. Seeing her afraid for him …

He shook his head and turned for the rail. No time to puzzle over that.

The soft hush of oars signalled the ship’s boat was in the water. A moment later, it came into view, lanterns pooling across the sea’s surface.

Beyond their light, the blackness stretched out, now punctuated by the occasional ripple reflecting golden light.

Nodding to Billy, Knigh climbed onto the rail, his balance effortless from a decade of working on ships. He threw the coil of rope to the burly bosun, Morholt, who piloted the ship’s boat. An experienced sailor, he caught it deftly and nodded, understanding what Knigh meant to do.

Knigh took a long breath and dived.

Across Dark Seas, Clare Sager

A gilded cage is still a cage. Will love set her free or trap her forever?

Half-human, half-fae, and with rebellion in her blood, Lady Avice chafes against society’s strict rules. Climbing trees, cursing, and running through the woods with young men are all strictly forbidden.

Eloping with a man she’s fairly sure she loves must be the solution to all her problems. But her white knight quickly loses his lustre when they’re chased across the country by armed men and forced to flee in a pirate ship.

With the wind in her hair, sea spray on her face, and magic stirring in her veins, the pirate life might be exactly the freedom she’s been longing for. But what’s freedom when her husband is still chained to tradition?

If you love adventures with magic, romance, and heroines who discover their power, you'll love this prequel to the new adult fantasy series that’s perfect for fans of Sarah J Maas and Miranda Honfleur.
