Summary Remarks: Patient continues in highly energetic depressive state. While this condition could be mistaken for apathy, patient’s responses to questions indicate persistent obsession with something she refers to as “water machine” or sometimes “my water machine.” The water machine differs from other schizophrenic influencing machine ideation in only one determinable respect; while historic cases have complained of persecution by influencing machines, the patient complains of being cut off from influence, attesting both explicitly and implicitly that she desires this influence. I at first assumed this was an indication of a guilt complex and a desire for punishment, but patient has not as yet corroborated this hypothesis, and seems unusually devoid of guilt. Patient is vague with respect to the nature of this disconnection but maintains that she has never been in actual contact with “water machine,” even though she has been aware of it on some level for most of her life. At times, patient has referred to “vector simulators,” which block her connection. She speaks of them as if they were inert matter clogging up the plumbing that would otherwise permit her to interact with “water machine,” and yet also intelligent, aware, and deliberately interfering not only with this connection, but with her own thoughts.

Parenthetically, patient has been denied further access to the music room, in keeping with staff requests, and appears to have been further depressed by this.

Patient’s affect is erratic, though never violent. Patient insists on consuming large quantities of water, in what appears to be an attempt to substitute for solid food. Patient hears music, some particular piece of music, and voices which for the most part seem to be modeled on police band or other official radio communications language. While the patient seldom refers to them, I believe she is in a state of near continuous visual hallucination involving something like direct perception of atomic behavior. According to both her own statements and nurse reports, the patient is unable to sleep for extended periods of time, owing to a fear of dreaming. I have yet to receive a coherent response to my questions respecting this fear, but it seems to be directed at dreaming itself, rather than any particular contents.

The patient frequently assumes a mannered affect when speaking, hard to describe, it’s like a fluctuating impersonation that combines the exaggerated tranquility of the HAL 9000 from 2001 with the offhanded technical impersonality of an air traffic controller or the director of a live television program. It’s annoying.

Dr. Berceau: Is the water machine god?

Jordan Grean: Your backyard god can’t hold a candle to my water machine, over. Stand by to fade all spots to black in three two one fade all spots to black.
