“I certainly hope so,” Emmitt murmurs, his other hand coming up to touch the pendant resting at the hollow of my throat.

“Me too,” I say, my cheeks warming as he toys with the chain, his fingers brushing along my collarbones. “I’m glad we’re on the same page.”

“My publicist is going to have a field day,” Emmitt says, a wicked gleam in his eyes. “No more heartbreaker reputation.”

“As long as she doesn’t reveal my name,” I remind him, though I’m sure he remembers. “Otherwise my parents are going to have a conniption, and I’m going to die before we get to our first Oscars.”

“No worries,” he says, lifting our joined hands to press a kiss against the inside of my wrist. “It just means I get to keep you to myself for a few more years.”

I want to shush him, but I can’t bring myself to. Not when he’s looking at me like that, his eyes soft, his mouth curled into a small smile, completely unmasked.

“Sounds like a plan,” I say, and reach up to press a kiss against his cheek.

“The first of many,” he says, his eyes glittering as we start walking again.

There’s a future here, ahead of us. And I’m looking forward to every minute of it.
