He drove himself into her and she cried out. He kept moving, knowing he wasn’t going to last long inside her tight warmth. They moved together like pistons in an engine, rocking the bed so hard the headboard slapped against the wall. She whispered a word. “Ready...” And that was that.

They came together, both crying out as he kept driving. Her fingernails dug into his back and the pain propelled him further over the edge until the world went pure white behind his closed eyes. He collapsed on her, knowing he was probably crushing her, but unable to make himself move. His muscles were jelly. Very weak, happy jelly.

“Oh my God...” she breathed. “That was...”

“Intense. Very, very, very intense.” He groaned, trying to move, but...jelly. “Push me.”

“What?”

“Push me off you. I can’t move. I know I’m crushing...”

“Hey, if this is how I go out of this world, I’m okay with it.” Her laughter was soft and whiskey rich.

He relaxed, tracing a line of kisses along her jaw.

“You are so beautiful. So sexy.” He nibbled her earlobe and smiled when she trembled beneath him. “It was over too fast. I’m sorry. I...”

“Don’t you dare apologize for giving me the best sex I’ve ever had in my life.” She patted his shoulder, then gave a weak push. “But you are crushing me, and I’ve decided I want to live.”

Best sex I’ve ever had... He smiled against her, and she shoved his shoulder again.

“Seriously, Zayne. Move.”

He immediately slid onto his side, gripping her tightly in his arms. She didn’t seem to mind his bear hug, turning onto her side and putting her back against him.

“Much better,” she said. There was a pause before she spoke again. “Wow.”

“Yup.” He kissed the back of her neck. He’d never been this much of a kisser, but he couldn’t seem to keep his mouth off her silky smooth skin. “That was a wow alright.”

They lay like that, back to front, every available inch touching each other, for a few long, peaceful moments. But something she’d said before was bugging him.

“What did you mean before, when you talked about another impulsive night that got you pregnant?”

She twisted her head to look back at him. “Do I really need to explain the bees and the birds to you? Do you not know where babies come from?”

He rolled his eyes. “I understand that, but...” There was no good way to have this conversation, no matter how curious he was. “Never mind. None of my business.”

She studied his face, then turned away, resting her head on his arm. “I love my son more than anything, but he came from an ill-advised one-night stand. Alcohol was involved. And an ancient box of condoms I had in my nightstand.”
