“I don’t think so. I must have sweat it all out of me.” She smiled into his dark eyes. The eyes of the man she loved. She almost said it out loud, but held back. Blurting out her love for him when he’d just admitted to a blaring hangover seemed like really bad timing.
“Would breakfast help?”
He nodded. “Maybe. But you know what they say about hangover cures...hair of the dog and all that.”
“You want more brandy?” She couldn’t even think about that stuff without her stomach protesting.
Mike’s gaze fell to her breasts, now directly in front of his face. One corner of his mouth slid upward.
“I never said my hangover came from the booze.”
She huffed out a quiet laugh. “Are you saying you’re suffering from a sex hangover?”
“I don’t know if it’s possible to overindulge in sex with you, but my body is telling me we came damn close.” He winked. “I coulda’ died. I still might.”
“And the cure for too much sex is...more sex?”
He lifted one shoulder before slowly sliding up and over her. “The body wants what it wants.”
She wrapped her arms around him. This was the perfect way to start a day—with a man who couldn’t get enough of her. As he sank into her, she whispered the words she’d tell him out loud later.
“I love you, Mike McKinnon.”
THE SUN WAS up in the sky the next time Mike opened his eyes. It took him half a minute to remember where he was—in Zoey’s bed. And once again using Zoey as the best pillow ever. Her fingers were in his hair again, but they weren’t moving. Her breaths came slow and deep in slumber.
Man, what a night.
Who knew 120 proof brandy was that much of an aphrodisiac? He didn’t think it was humanly possible to do all they did last night. They were probably both going to have some aches and bruises today. Totally worth it. He kissed her stomach and rolled over. He didn’t think he had any morning appointments, but he had to at least show up at work. What time was it? He scrubbed his eyes and pushed himself to his feet. His knees felt like water, but they held.
He forgot about the time when his gaze fell to the bed. Zoey was sprawled out, starfish-style, across the sheet. There was hardly any bedding left on the bed. Just her beautiful naked body. Tangled dark hair covered her face and shoulders. He spotted a few little nibble marks he’d left on her rosy skin. Would he ever have enough of her? If last night was any proof, the answer was a definite no. He was going to love this woman for the rest of his life, and even that wouldn’t be enough. He wanted and needed her that much.
