His dick was completely soft.
“Give it to me then,” breathed Lonnie again.
Get hard, get hard.
Lonnie really got off on it when guys teased her, made her wait. Spencer had never actually done this before. Usually he was the fast-and-hard type. She looked back, then up at his panicked face.
Abby waited in the CPS reception room, engrossed in her iPad. She didn’t look up, because that ran the risk of eye contact with one of the other people waiting to be seen, many of whom looked sick or downright scary.
She had only a vague understanding of why they had to come here. There were things her dad was doing that were bad for her. He’d changed so much since Mom died. Maybe he would change back again if she left him alone, because she certainly didn’t make him happy anymore. She used to, when Mom was alive, but not anymore.
Spencer’s work phone vibrated on the seat beside her. She wasn’t allowed to answer that phone but as it buzzed, it moved around, touching and rattling his car keys. People were looking at her. The situation called for her adult voice.
“Hello, Dad’s phone.”
“Is Spencer there?”
“He’s in a meeting right now. Do you want—”
It took Johnny Boy a moment, and only a moment, to decide whether he should be annoyed at Spencer for not manning his work phone or grateful for being gifted an opportunity.
“Oh, you must be Abby, right? I’ve been looking forward to talking to you.”
“Really? Do you work for my dad?”
“As it happens, I do work for your dad. Did you know he never stops talking about you?”
“Really?”
“You have no idea. Which school did he say you do really well at again?”
“I go to McDade Elementary.”
“No way, McDade? My niece might be going to McDade. Say, are you on Facebook?”
Abby hesitated.
“Ah, you’re too young, right? My niece is your age, but she has an account. I was thinking she could send you a Friend Request.”
Abby knew how bad it could be being the new girl or even just being different. She’d really suffered when word had gotten out that the school was topping off the Burnham tuition fees. “My uncle set me up on it too. I’m only allowed to do it for an hour though.”
“Hey, same for my niece! Abby Burnham right?”
“Yeah,” said Abby.
“Well, don’t tell him I told you this stuff about how amazing he thinks you are or I’ll be in trouble. Our secret, OK?”
“OK.”
Glowing from the knowledge that her father spoke so highly of her when she wasn’t around, Abby was about to say a breathless goodbye but just managed to regain her adult composure. “What’s her name?”
“Huh?”
“Your niece’s name? So I can look out for her Friend Request.”
