  50. Don't miss out!
  51. About the Author

No you don’t.

She sighed. “Are you a murderer?”

Well, that was a change of pace. “I prefer beating people to a pulp if that’s what you mean.”

“That doesn’t answer my question.”

“You have a lot of questions,” I sighed.

Readjusting so I could better see her face and pull her closer to me, I brought my lips to hers and wrapped my leg around her. All I could think about was falling asleep and slipping into a blissful unconsciousness that I desperately needed with my obsession in my arms.

“Brent?” Her breath was warm on my chest.

“Yes?”

“I’m not sure what I should do.”

Squeezing her a bit tighter, I said, “Go to sleep, you can worry tomorrow.”

Laying there in silence, I held her until she fell into a deep sleep. The fully relaxed version of her face made me feel a little more at peace when any other time I’d be wide awake and worried about shit on my side of the world.

Distantly, I heard my phone buzzing from wherever I tossed it in the room when I brought Fallon in to distract her. I slowly peeled myself away from her, being careful as not to wake the sleeping beauty, and went to check it.

My relaxed contentment ended just like that because Sloane had called more than ten times.

Making my way quietly down the hallway and into the living room, I answered, pretending to just have woken up. “Hello?”

Fuck, my whispers sound loud.

“Where are you?”

“Sleeping,” I said curtly.

“You’re not home or at the fraternity!”

I pulled the phone away from the screeching voice and rubbed my hand over my face. She was seeking me out at any location she knew I’d be? “No. What do you want?”

She let out a horrid sound. “I haven’t seen you, like, all day!”

God help me. “Sloane. Stop. For the love of all that is fucking holy, knock this shit off. It’s not cute nor endearing. We’ve been nothing but hookups and I’m over it.”

“Oh! So you’re fucking cheating on me?! We will just see about that. When I find out who the skank you’re sleeping with is, I-”

I cut her off. “We are not together. Stop calling me.”

“Where. Are. You?” I could literally see how she was standing from over the phone.

I wanted to bang my head into the wall. “You’re becoming obsessive. Lose my number.”

She feigned a sob. “Brent!”

“Find another rich man to cling to,” I said, ending the call.

I turned to find Kelly intently listening to me in front of the fridge, arms crossed.

“Hey.” I waved.
